“The east and west outside doors on the PH are missing!”
Not to worry: Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Department, from whom HOBS leases the building, has carefully removed the doors and taken them to their maintenance shop for refinishing.
Under the guidance of OCPR’s maintenance director, Tom Dorton, the outside faces of the doors will be stripped, stained and coated with several coats of UV resistant poly urethane.
The doors were carefully designed and built of mahogany to replicate the original doors which had rotted away and could not be restored during the building’s restoration in 2015.
The refinished doors could be re-installed as early as the week of March 11 – 15.
